Eladio returns

In 1983 Eladio Piñeiro launches the wine cellar Mar de Frades after several years elaborating albariño wine before the D.O. Rias Baixas had been granted. He never wished a warehouse of great dimensions but he was always obsessed to elaborate a personal wine and thus, it was born a special elaboration of must tear (mosto lágrima) that made its debut in society with the harvest of 1991 wearing unique clothing (customized Blue Glass bottle) that supposed a whole revolution as far as external image of a quality wine was concerned.

Later he added in his label a hidden message for the consumer which consisted of a galleon appearing when the wine reached its optimal temperature for consumption. He was also able to position an exclusive licor of orujo and the rest of range in a bottle in the shape of a traditional still.

This gives an idea of the exclusiveness of his target market, for that aim he tried to do very special elaborations based on the roots of this land of El Salnés , extracting what there was of exceptional in the Albariño variety both in the wine and in the distillation of its peels.

In January of 2003, because of a serious ailment of his pair, he decides to take into account some of the purchasing proposals he was receiving in a regular basis every year, since in all market researches his brand proved to be the one with the biggest growing capacity, among other characteristics such as his unwillingness to increase production if this meant to put at risk the level of quality.

The Parenthesis

Motivated by that familiar event and after its happy outcome he returns to confirm what truly moves him and fulfils his life specially after being about to lose it all . Fortune granted him the possibility of retaking his activity, with that plus of wisdom that comes with time. Time to decide to his utmost satisfaction in which way could he make his contribution to the world of wine, giving no relevance to the rules of today´s saturated wine market.
