Raimat Winery
Raimat, original innovation.
Raimat's more than 100 years of history are marked by the visionary character of its founders.
In each of the steps of the brand, the innovative spirit is present. From the transformation of an entire desert into a sea of vineyards to the creation of a new system for choosing wine.
With Raimat's story we discover the true meaning of innovation.
The Raventós family saw great potential in a desert land where there were also the ruins of a castle that had been destroyed during the War of Succession. After their acquisition, more than 100 kilometres of irrigation channels were built to carry water from the Canal de Aragón to the already fertile lands of Raimat, where they would once again be able to plant vines. The initial estate would also have the first and only wine growing colony in Europe equipped with more than 100 houses for workers and families, 12 warehouses, a church, a school and several corrals and stables for animals.
The Farm
The current landscape of the Raimat estate has little in common with that of its beginnings when Manuel Raventós began his dream after acquiring 3,200 hectares of barren land in Lleida.
In those days the farm was just a desolate desert from which it was difficult to imagine that it would ever bear fruit.
